Small business ideas for college students?

by Jack on February 23, 2010

Have about 10k to work with and don’t want to devote more than 20 hours a week to this. I was thinking of making a big order of international edition textbooks and selling them at a profit by asking professors to talk to students, posting signs on class doors and around campus and so forth. Any other ideas?
no MLM schemes please….

Create a business around your major. Then by the time your graduate you will be ahead of the game.

Think about opening a drive-through coffee stand and position yourself on a main road into campus. You could also see about opening a portable coffee cart on campus itself (although this can sometimes be tricky, as colleges often have contracts with a single food-service provider). Also, think about hiring state work-study elgible students if you’d like employees – I believe a portion of their wages can be reimbursable.

Good luck!
