Guess you meant to say hyphen! Yes, branding is a good thing but it won’t keep you from insolvency. My intention here is to highlight paramount steps for survival and profit.

Minimal starter equipment (not intended for weddings): basic SLR with over 6mp. Kit lens (usually 18-55 or 18-70). External Flash (if you use built in flash, go home.)

Minimal+ 28mm f2.8 (used, $150?), 50mm f1.8 ($100 new), light stands, extra external flash, ‘shoot thru’ umbrella, flash bracket to hold flash onto stand.

General tip: ALWAYS buy good lens, they hold value. $5,000 bodies in 2000, are worth -300.00 today. 17-35mm f2.8 in 2000, +1500. Today, sells for similar price used.

This is a great video tip. I would also highly recommend “Photographers Market – Guide to Building Your Photography Buisness by Vik Orenstein. It’s a great step by step guide.

I don’t sell these or anything of the sort – I’m just recommending them along with this video :) GOOD LUCK!
